Center for Connective Tissue diseases

The Center for Connective Tissue diseases in the Human Genetics department of Amsterdam UMC is focused on the investigation of genetic disorders affecting the bone and cardiovascular tissues.

Monogenic bone disorders present a challenging pathology ranging from forms of osteoporosis and dysplasia to high bone mass and ectopic ossification. Often other organ systems are affected. We aim to decipher the complex mechanism behind bone cell imbalance and impaired tissue homeostasis, ultimately translating these findings to new therapeutic interventions.
